Thursday September 3 Harkin and Loebsack at Service Recognition Event

From Patti Fields:

Dear Iowa Friends of Service,

Please join us and our national coalition partners in celebrating the role service has played in Iowa’s recovery and the continuing effort that must ensue.   More than a year into the recovery effort following the tornadoes and flooding of 2008, the need for volunteers is stronger than ever as hundreds of homes still need to be rehabbed before winter.

On September 3 at 2:30 p.m., we will kick off what we hope will be a sustained call to service; both in continued efforts to rebuild, as well as efforts to solve Iowa’s other most pressing needs.

Senator Tom Harkin, Congressman Dave Loebsack, and Iowa native Brandon Routh (Superman) will all be on hand to help raise awareness of the need to serve and to thank those currently serving.

National partners will also be giving Senator Harkin special recognition for his lifelong support of service.  Service projects will be going on both before and after this special event and your help is needed!  Please visit www.servicenation.org/harkin to RSVP.

Location: Community Recovery Center 220 6th Street NW Cedar Rapids Iowa
