Meeting called to order at 7:03 PM.
Secretary’s report:
Carl Fongheiser is absent due to illness. Dennis Roseman will temporarily take over responsibility for sending meeting notices.
Robin Roseman volunteered to take minutes tonight. Minutes of the September 24th meeting were distributed and approved.
Treasurer’s Report including the Fall BBQ Report was presented by Treasurer Scott Smith and approved.
Elected officials welcomed were County Reporter Kim Painter, Representative Mary Masher and our newly appointed County Supervisor Janelle Rettig.
Chair’s report: Thanks to everyone who helped with the BBQ, especially the BBQ Chair Jean Falk. The Jefferson Jackson dinner will be Nov. 21 featuring Vice President Joe Biden and all Senatorial candidates. Go to our website jcdems.org for current information on the JJ and also other upcoming events.
2nd Vice Chair’s Report: Thanks to all who participated in the Homecoming Parade.
Standing Committee Reports: BBQ Committee: Wrap-up of the BBQ and thanks to everyone who helped to make this event a success.
Unfinished Business: Sept. 3 CC Meeting minutes were approved. No CC nominations. No nominations for Public Relations

New Business:
The following resolution was presented:
We support laws that promote and protect everyone’s human rights equally. We support the Iowa Supreme Court in their recent judgment recognizing that all Iowans deserve equal protection under the law, including civil marriage for gay and lesbian couples. We oppose a divisive constitutional amendment that would seek to deny the freedom to marry to committed gay and lesbian couples.
Resolution passed unanimously. Copies will be sent to leaders Mike Gronstal and Pat Murphy.
County Convention March 13: Data Chair John Deeth presented his calculation of a minimum size of 358 delegates, which would result in Lincoln Township having 1 delegate. Size was moved, seconded, and passed unanimously.
County Caucuses January 23-Saturday. Rod Sullivan worked on alternate locations for the caucuses in order to reduce the additional costs that several schools will charge due to the Saturday date and the need to pay extra for custodial staffing. Discussion ensued regarding the locations and costs. Ed Flaherty moved to go with the original plan regardless of costs in order to maximize convenience and participation. Motion seconded and passed.
Storage Shed: Treasurer Scott Smith presented facts regarding the ongoing need for storage shed space and costs involved in monthly versus yearly contract. A motion was made to give Scott authority to negotiate to find the best deal and proceed with a contract. The motion was seconded and passed.
Possible Special Convention. Congratulations to Supervisor Rettig! John Deeth presented information regarding a petition being circulated to hold a special election and what regulations are in place for the Democratic Party to nominate a candidate. Tom Larkin moved that the Executive Committee be authorized to act if a Special Convention needs to be organized quickly in order to nominate a candidate. Motion was seconded and passed.
Scott Smith moved that committee meetings tonight be cancelled due to the late hour and small attendance. Motion seconded and passed.

Scott Smith: WIN labor walk for Kirsten Running next Saturday in Cedar Rapids.
