The Secretary of State’s office is doing a review of the voter rolls using various databases which might have errors. It is important to check your voter registration status.

• If your status says active: you don’t need to take any action
• If your status says inactive: you don’t need to re-register as long as you vote in 2026.
• If your status says pending, incomplete, or unconfirmed: you should contact your county auditor’s office and find out what you need to do to change your status to active.

Iowa has a new form for registering to vote. The old form will no longer be accepted.

Have you moved or changed your legal name since the last time you registered?
If so, you will need to re-register with your new address or your new name.

n recent years, changes at the U.S. Postal Service have caused mail delays. Even if you have voted by mail before without a problem, plan to allow extra time for your ballot this year.

• If you vote by mail, don’t wait—mail or turn in your Absentee Ballot Request Form and your ballot as early as possible
• Even better, if you can, vote early in person
