Office news: new staff

by nancy ~ August 26th, 2010

Our coordinated campaign office has just recently strengthened  our
staff adding Nancy Porter, and Maureen Donnelly for  office management
and volunteer coordinating,   Here is a message from Nancy:

New! New! New!

New for DEMS, new for YOU!

We have a great new office at 36 Sturgis Corner Drive and if you haven’t seen it, then it ‘s way past time to stop by!  Say “hello” to Doug or Mandy or Meredith or Katie or Matt or Maureen.  Say hello to all of our hard working staff then greet and meet and be a VOLUNTEER.

We need you, we want you in ways too numerous to mention.  We need cooks, bakers, phone callers, data entry, computer smart, doorknockers., parade walkers, fundraiser attendees, writers (letters to the editor) , signatures (petitions, letters).  If you don’t like the before mentioned, we always need gofers (folks to bring in water and diet drinks or take out signs), cleaner uppers, word spreaders (tell everyone the Dem Headquarters is the place to meet!)  Don’t be shy, be part of the continuous transition to support the priorities you have and the candidates who support your goals and ambitions for a better world.

If you don’t like what you’ve read, then come help us change for a better beginning to our collaborative world of the Dems in Iowa, Johnson and Linn counties.

Day of Action Saturday July 31

by jcdemsor ~ July 30th, 2010

Dear Friends,

As I’m sure many of you have heard, the IDP is having a major statewide canvass this Saturday. And as always, I expect Johnson County to knock the socks off the rest of the state in sheer number of doors hit.
That said, we’re still looking for some folks to join us down at headquarters. There’s a lot to do– Calling, Door Knocking, and Data Entry.
We will also be joined by some special guests from Des Moines– IDP Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky will kick off the 10AM canvass shift, and Coordinated Campaign Director Derek Eadon will also be in attendance.
We hope to see you there!
What: Day of Action Canvass & Phonebank
When: Saturday, July 31st, 10:00AM-5:00PM
Where: Johnson County Democrats Office – located at 36 Sturgis Corner Drive (behind Village Inn off off Riverside & Highway 6)

Please call the office at 319-337-VOTE or drop me an email if you are able to attend!

Here is what you can do TODAY

by jcdemsor ~ July 17th, 2010

Even an hour of your time would help.

To volunteer, call (319)-337-8683 or stop by our office at 36 Sturgis Corner Drive. Our office is open Monday-Thursday 9am-9pm, Friday and Saturday 9am-7pm, and Sunday 12pm-8pm. Call or do data entry at the office—a great way to meet and work with fellow Democrats.  You can find out about our canvass activities as well.  You can even get call lists that you can do at home if you would like. Donate office supplies—call and see what our current needs are.   A plate of cookies or other treats would help “stoke” our volunteers and lift their spirits to do yet another list.  .

Fill out a vote-by-mail application—and get your friends and relatives in to apply as well.  This is an important part of our efforts—this allows us to be more effective in late October on Election Weekend since it reduces the number of voter contacts we need to do then.

Talk to your friends and relatives about the importance of this election.  After the excitement of the historical 2008 Presidential Election and the many Democratic victories we celebrated, this up-coming election might seem tame in comparison.  With Grassley’s recent record and a great candidate Roxanne Conlin we have a good chance to make history again with a second Democratic Senator.  With a re-election of Governor Culver and our Democratic State Legislators we can continue to make Iowa a progressive state we can be proud of.  With the re-election of Dave Loebsack, we will continue to have a hard working and responsive Representative in Washington.

Even if you don’t have the time right now to help out there is an important way you can helpDonations are urgently needed to support our Coordinated Campaign office. You can send a check to Johnson County Democrats P. O. Box 1773 Iowa City Iowa 52245,

or donate online (CLICK HERE TO DONATE).
