Central Committee Meeting
August 6th, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM.
The minutes of the July meeting were approved as presented.
Volunteers are needed to help out with canvassing and phone banking for the House District 90 special election. Volunteers are also needed to help at the Swisher and Lone Tree parades.
The treasurer’s report was tabled until the next meeting.
Sen. Bolkcom spoke about health care reform.
Doug Dorando announced that Rep. Loebsack would have a town meeting at 10 AM on August 22nd in Meeting Room A at the Iowa City Public Library.
Nominations were opened for 2nd vice chair. Robin Roseman was nominated. Nominations were closed. Robin Roseman was elected.
Nominations were opened for chair of the Candidate Development committee. Brad Selken was nominated. Caroline Dieterle was nominated. Nominations were closed. Brad Selken was elected.
Nominations were opened for chair of the Membership committee. Ruth Spinks was nominated. Nominations were closed. Ruth Spinks was elected.
Nominations were opened for chair of the Data Management committee. John Deeth was nominated.
Nominations were closed. John Deeth was elected.
Elizabeth Etchells was nominated to fill a vacancy in Coralville 03. Elizabeth was elected.
Elected Officials: Regenia Bailey, Pat Harney, Vicki Lensing, Dave Jacoby, Bob Dvorsky, Joe Bolkcom, Rod Sullivan, Pat Hughes.
It was moved to create an ad-hoc committee to determine what the policy should be on signs and literature for primary candidates at party events. The motion passed.
It was moved to waive the breakout committee sessions. The motion passed.
