Free Lunch Program Volunteer Info for June, 2017

JUNE – Free Lunch

JUN 2 – 1105 Gilbert Court – 9:30 – 11:30 / JUN 2 – 1105 Gilbert Court – 11:30-2:00ish

The first Friday of every even month (February, April, June, August, October, December) the Johnson County Democrats and OFA cook and serve the Free Lunch Program. We usually serve around 120 people.

The first shift (9:30-11:30) is prep. We make the food, clean the dining room, take down the chairs, prepare the drinks – anything that needs to be done before the doors open.

The second shift (11:30-1:30ish) is when we serve and clean-up.

If you are interested in helping during one of the shifts please let Robin Roseman (robin.roseman@gmail.com) know. It is an enjoyable event.

Johnson County Annual Fall BBQ Fundraiser – 16 October 2016 from 4PM to 7PM

Johnson County Annual Fall BBQ/Fundraiser with guest speaker, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (Minn) will arrive at 4pm and speak shortly thereafter

Sunday, October 16, 4pm – 7pm

Johnson County Fairgrounds, Blgs B and C
A cash bar and vegetarian option will be available.
Join us for some good food, good camaraderie and some great speakers.
Speakers include: Sen. Amy Klobuchar (Minn), US Congressman, Dave Loebsack, and US Senatorial Candidate, Patty Judge, plus state and county officials. Sen. Klobuchar is scheduled to arrive at 4:00pm and will stay appx 40 min. So arrive by 4 so you can hear her.

Annual Hall of Fame Awards, 16 May 2015

The Johnson County Democratic Party is holding our Annual Hall of Fame Awards on Saturday, May 16 at 7pm at the Coralville Marriott.

Please join us for coffee, desserts, and plenty of old war stories! A cash bar will be available. Parking is available for a small fee on either end of the building.

The Hall of Fame inductees for 2014 are: Ro Foege, Pat Ikan, Gary Sanders, and Dennis and Robin Roseman. We hope you can join us in recognizing this remarkable group!

Tickets are available for a $25 suggested donation. People who cannot afford that amount should still feel welcome, but please call 354-7199 so we can get a count.

Thursday September 26, 2013

1. 7 Executive Committee Members present plus 1 guests, 2 sick
2. ICE –
1. a. We need to be making more posts to our Facebook page and Twitter. John D and Sam O will be taking over Twitter. Posts should be things of interest to JCDems.
2. b. Website – Karen, Brad and Karla have been working on it. The featured event is at the top of the page. Information has been added to the webpage about Obamacare which will take you to Healthcare.gov
3. c. Data Training with the IDP – we would like to see this sooner rather than later. Currently planned for Wed. Oct 23 at 7 PM. This will be just for the main data team (Gerene, John and Tim).
3. Harkin Grant – we were given $600 for 2014.
1. a. Need to think about how it could have been written so we could have gotten more. They may have looked at giving more to the poorer counties.
2. b. Many were similar to ours and not specific. We need to be more specific in the future (“we will use $____ to send invitations to 2000 people in North Liberty to invite to a meet and greet Ice Cream Social”)
4. Parades – Homecoming
1. a. Line up at 3 – parade at 5:30 – we do not have a spot to line up yet. Will be sent out as soon as we find out.
2. b. We have asked for a second float for riders but have not heard yet. Will send out information as soon as we get it.
5. BBQ – Sponsor mailing sent out 2 weeks ago. So far we have received $4877 last year we were at $10,000.
1. a. Need to make follow up phone calls to 286 people and unions. Peter will be coordinating who calls who (if you are available please let Peter know)
2. b. Karen will be doing a Press Release and Mike will be sending a 2700 Mass Mailing out.

i. Postcard similar to the NL Ice Cream Social

c. Haven’t had any luck with keynote speaker. Currently we have the 3 Governor hopefuls (Tyler Olson, Jack Hatch and Robert Krause), Bruce Braley, Brad Anderson, Dave Loebsack and maybe Zack Wahls)
d. 3 bands have cancelled and many wonder why a band is needed so we decided not to have music.
e. Volunteers we will need

v. Children’s Area – Lily Tate (maybe one or two more)
