Three U.S. Senate Candidates to Speak at Convention

Roxanne Conlin, Tom Fiegen and Bob Krause are the
three announced Democratic candidates for U. S. Senate for the seat currently
held by Sen. Charles Grassley. Each will address a Special Convention of
the Johnson County Democrats Thursday December 3.

The public is welcomed and encouraged to hear them speak. One does
not need to be a convention delegate or alternate to attend. Hearing and
meeting these candidates will provide a unique up-close preview opportunity
of this important 2010 statewide race.

Special Convention will begin at 7 p.m. December 3 in the Buchanan
Auditorium (Room W10) Pappajohn Business Building, 21 E. Market St.,
(Main Campus) University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. Registration of delegates
and alternates begins at 6:30.

The Convention itself is expected to last about an hour. The Senate
Candidates will speak at the beginning of the program. The business of the
Convention will follow—nomination of a Democratic candidate for County
Supervisor. This candidate will run in a Special Election January 19 for the
vacancy left by the passing of County Supervisor Larry Meyers.

Special Convention is a reconvening of the 2008 Johnson County Conven-
tion. There were 343 delegates and 464 alternates to that convention and
all will automatically be delegates or alternates, respectively, for the Special
Convention. It is anticipated to be the largest gathering of local Democrats
this year.

This event is co-sponsored by the University of Iowa Democrats and the
Johnson County Democrats.
